Why BevTech
Electrical labour hire from an engineering company, not a recruitment desk
Most electrical labour hire in Brisbane is arranged by recruiters who match a licence number to a vacancy and move on. That works for fit outs and commercial jobs. It rarely works on a canning line at two in the morning, when a filler has faulted, the HMI is showing an alarm nobody recognises and the next truck is due at six.
BevTech is an electrical, automation and mechanical engineering business first. Our people have commissioned, maintained and fault found the same kinds of fillers, seamers, conveyors, palletisers, glycol plants and CIP systems that run in your plant. When we place an industrial electrician on your site, we choose someone who has worked on that type of equipment, and we stay involved for as long as they are there.
Our team has worked with Coca Cola Amatil, Lion, CUB, FOODMACH, Agito and Graphic Packaging, so we understand the pace, the hygiene rules and the cost of a stopped line in food and beverage production.
What every BevTech electrician brings
- A current Queensland electrical work licence, checked before every placement
- Current low voltage rescue (LVR) and CPR training
- Fault finding experience on Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC platforms
- Hands on work with VSDs, motor control centres, sensors and safety circuits
- Isolation and lockout discipline that matches your site procedures
- Food safe work habits: hygiene zones, GMP, allergen and foreign matter controls
- A direct line back to BevTech engineers when a job goes beyond a single trade
Who we supply
Electrical and automation roles we place
Tell us what the job needs and we will match the right person to it, whether that is a single night shift or a six week shutdown.
Industrial electricians
Licensed electricians with plant maintenance experience, used to breakdowns, planned maintenance, modifications and production pressure on FMCG sites.
Electrical maintenance technicians
Experienced hands for planned maintenance, preventive rounds, thermography follow ups, motor and drive replacement and general electrical upkeep.
PLC and automation engineers
Allen Bradley and Siemens engineers who can diagnose logic, make controlled changes, update HMIs and back up programs properly, so your line keeps a clean software history.
Functional safety engineers
TÜV certified engineers to assess, verify and document safety functions, guarding interlocks and emergency stop circuits when a machine is changed or relocated.
Shutdown and project crews
Electricians, leading hands and engineers supplied as a coordinated crew for shutdowns, line upgrades, relocations and commissioning.
Breakdown and after hours cover
On-call industrial electricians for nights, weekends and public holidays, so a fault on the late shift does not wait for Monday morning.
How it works
Four ways to bring in electrical labour
Rostered shift cover
An industrial electrician on your roster for a set period, covering vacancies, long service leave, parental leave or a gap while you recruit a permanent hire.
On-call breakdown cover
An agreed callout arrangement for nights and weekends. We learn your site in advance, so the person who arrives already knows the gate, the induction and the equipment.
Shutdown and upgrade crews
Planned crews for annual shutdowns, line modifications and new equipment installs, scoped with you ahead of time using our shutdown planning experience.
Peak season top up
Extra electrical capacity for the summer beverage peak, product launches or extended production hours, then scaled back when volume settles.
Not sure which fits? Many of our clients use a mix: a rostered electrician for the week, on-call cover after hours and a larger crew for shutdown. Our labour hire and shift cover page explains how we cover mechanical trades and production operators as well.
Engineering backup
An electrician with an engineering office behind them
A labour hire electrician is only as useful as the support around them. When a fault turns out to be a mechanical failure, a worn part or a logic problem, a recruiter cannot help. BevTech can.
- Electrical and automation engineers who can support a placed electrician remotely or attend site when a fault needs deeper diagnosis. See our industrial electrical services.
- Mechanical engineers and fitters for problems that start on the electrical side and end in a gearbox, bearing or pneumatic valve.
- An in house machine shop in Richlands with CNC, milling and turning, so a broken bracket or shaft can be made rather than waited on.
- Functional safety expertise for any change that touches guarding, interlocks or emergency stop circuits.
Recent work
The kind of electrical work our people do
The electricians and engineers we place come from the same team that delivers these projects.
Glycol refrigeration control
A Siemens S7-1500 PLC controlling glycol refrigeration to hold beer tank temperatures, giving brewers stable fermentation and conditioning.
Hot water rinse CIP on a can seamer
A Siemens S7-1200 PLC managing a hot water rinse CIP process on a can seamer to meet hygiene compliance.
Can inverter block systems
Design, manufacture and installation of inverter block systems for 330mL sleek cans, combining our electrical, mechanical and machining teams.
Our process
From first call to first shift
We keep the process short, because electrical labour is usually needed quickly. We do not skip the checks that protect your site and our people.
- Tell us about the job. Equipment, PLC platforms, shift pattern, duration and any site specific requirements.
- We match the right person. We put forward an electrician or engineer with experience on similar equipment, not just the next name on a list.
- Licences and inductions checked. Electrical licence, LVR and CPR currency, and your site induction completed before the first shift wherever possible.
- On site and supported. Your placed electrician has BevTech engineers on hand for anything beyond their trade.
- Review and adjust. We check in regularly and scale the cover up or down as your production needs change.
Compliance
A licensed Queensland labour hire provider
Under the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2017 (Qld), a business that supplies workers to others in Queensland must hold a labour hire licence, and host businesses must only use licensed providers. Using an unlicensed provider exposes the host to significant penalties.
BevTech has held its licence since 2018. As a host, you still share work health and safety duties with us under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld). Electrical work on your site is also covered by the Electrical Safety Act 2002 (Qld). We agree who is responsible for inductions, permits, isolations and supervision before anyone starts, so there are no grey areas once the job begins.

Where we work
Electrical labour across Brisbane and South East Queensland
We are based at Richlands in Brisbane’s south west, close to the Ipswich, Logan and Gateway motorways. That puts most of the region’s food and beverage manufacturing within easy reach, and it is how we keep callout response times realistic. We regularly work across:
Eagle Farm, Pinkenba, Hemmant, Murarrie, Northgate, Rocklea, Acacia Ridge, Darra, Wacol, Carole Park, Richlands, Berrinba, Crestmead, Yatala, Ipswich and Logan.
If your plant is further afield in Queensland, talk to us. Planned work such as shutdowns, installs and upgrades can often be arranged anywhere in the state.
FAQs
Electrical labour hire questions
Is BevTech a licensed labour hire provider?
Yes. Bev-Tech Engineering Pty Ltd holds Queensland labour hire licence LHL-01447-W5F6V, which is active with no conditions. You can check it on the Queensland labour hire licence public register.
Who is responsible for safety when a labour hire electrician is on my site?
Both of us. Under Queensland work health and safety law, BevTech and your business share duties for the people we place. In practice, you provide the site induction, permits and local procedures, and we make sure the electrician is licensed, trained, fit for the task and supported. We agree who handles inductions, isolations and supervision before the first shift.
Can your electricians work on PLCs as well as electrical faults?
Yes. Many of the people we place have Allen Bradley and Siemens experience, and we can also supply dedicated PLC and automation engineers. Where a program change is needed, we follow your site change control and keep a proper backup of the code. For larger control system work, see our industrial automation services.
How quickly can you supply an industrial electrician?
It depends on the role, the shift pattern and your site induction requirements. Planned cover is best arranged a few weeks ahead, and urgent requests are handled case by case. The fastest way to find out is to send us the details through our contact form and we will come back to you with availability.
Do you supply for single shifts or only longer placements?
Both. We supply electricians for anything from a one off breakdown callout or a single weekend shift to cover lasting several months. Ongoing on-call arrangements work best when we can induct someone to your site in advance.
Are your electricians used to working on food and beverage sites?
Yes. Food and beverage manufacturing is our specialty. Our people understand hygiene zones, GMP, allergen and foreign matter controls, washdown areas and the paperwork that comes with working on a food safe site.
Are you an industrial electrician looking for work?
We are always keen to hear from licensed industrial electricians, automation technicians and PLC engineers with FMCG or manufacturing experience. See current opportunities at BevTech.
Need an industrial electrician on your line?
Tell us about the site, the equipment and the cover you need. We will come back to you with the right person, not just an available one.
